Restaurant Instagram content ideas: a month of posts.

By Navneet Kaur, Social Media Lead · 8 June 2026 · 6 min read

"What do I even post?" is the question that quietly kills most restaurant Instagram accounts. The fix isn't more creativity on demand — it's a simple rhythm you can run on repeat. Here's a month of ideas built around three post types a week, so you never stare at a blank screen again.

The weekly rhythm (run this every week)

Three posts a week, each with a job: one to make people hungry, one to show the people behind the place, one to give a reason to visit now. Below are four weeks of specific ideas slotted into that rhythm — mix and match freely.

Week 1

Hungry: a close-up of your single best-selling dish, shot in daylight. Behind the scenes: a 15-second reel of that dish being plated. Reason to visit: announce this week's special or seasonal item.

Week 2

Hungry: a "menu hidden gem" — the dish regulars love that newcomers miss. Behind the scenes: introduce a team member and their favourite thing to make. Reason to visit: a weekend reminder with your opening hours.

Week 3

Hungry: a drink or dessert with movement — a pour, a melt, steam. Behind the scenes: a morning-prep or fresh-ingredients moment that signals quality. Reason to visit: share a genuine customer compliment or review (with permission).

Week 4

Hungry: a flat-lay of a full table — the "bring your friends" shot. Behind the scenes: a quick story of how a signature dish came to be. Reason to visit: tease something coming next month to keep people watching.

Make it sustainable

Batch it. Spend one hour shooting several posts at once when the light is good, then schedule them out. You don't need to be live on your phone all day — you need a steady, reliable presence. That consistency is what keeps you top of mind so people choose you when they're deciding where to eat.

If keeping this up every week still feels like one job too many, that's exactly what we take off owners' plates — strategy, content and community, run for you. See how we work with restaurants and cafés, or grab our free restaurant marketing playbook to go deeper.
